Prayer Meeting

A Call to Prayer

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

-2 Chronicles 7:14

Prayer Meeting: Wednesday, 7pm
Intercessory Prayer: Thursday, 6am and Saturday, 7am

Prayer is central to faith.  Prayer connects us to the divine.  Prayer is communication with God.  Prayer involves waiting, trusting, talking, and listening.  Mount Olive Baptist Church believes in the power of prayer.  We are convinced that there is a God and that He hears and answers prayer.  Someone has said that “mans extremities is God’s opportunity.”  We believe that God has given His people access to Him though prayer.  We believe that prayer not only changes things, but also that prayer changes us.

The goal of prayer is not always to change the hand of God, but to help us as his children to submit our wills to His will.  In that sense, prayer is intimacy with God.  Through our intimate relationship with God, prayer gives us power to endure and to make us ready to do not our wills but His will.

As growing Christians we are called to pray without ceasing, at Mount Olive Baptist Church we offer our community and church family the opportunity to come together for prayer three times a week as a faith community.

Daily Devotion

In addition to these three days of public prayer, we encourage our members to develop their spiritual muscle by engaging in a daily devotion period of prayer and bible study.  We believe that our spiritual strength is dependent upon a sustained relationship of prayer.

Set aside 15-30 minutes a day for prayer and personal devotion.
